She finds herself divorced at the beginning of her 50's and decides to follow her dream. Alone and coping with presbyopia, She travels and lives with indigenous people all over the world. What an inspiration! More on Tales of a Female Nomad - readers favorite

An Inspiring Horse - The Story of Seabiscuit

My favorite book is Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand, simply because it is a well written, inspiring book about a horse that no one thought could be a winner and it truly was an incredible animal. More on An Inspiring Horse - The Story of Seabiscuit

Pride and Prejudice - a short synopsis

Pride and Prejudice is Jane Austen's story about a family of five young women growing up in a world foscussed on a family's social class and economic standing.

Mr. Bennet, without any male heirs, must leave his house to his closest male relative - an annoying, and socially awkward, cousin. This leaves his daughters in a bad position. More on Pride and Prejudice - a short synopsis

The Fog of War: Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara

One of my favorite books is The Fog of War: Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara, written by James Blight and Janet Lang.

I initially read it while on active duty, and it helped me better understand the nature of warfare, and as an American citizen, understand the rationale behind actions undertaken by our past and current leaders. Robert McNamara served as Secretary of Defense under Presidents Kennedy and Johnson from 1960 to 1968. More on The Fog of War: Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara

A Tricky Nose to Fit

I am very picky about my eyeglasses. It's not the color or even the shape of the frames that matters to me, but the bridge. The bridge is the part of the frame that rests on the sides of the upper part of your nose so they don't slide down your face. There are different bridge types. The most common bridge type is the saddle bridge. The saddle bridge is like an upside-down U or a saddle, hence the name. More on A Tricky Nose to Fit

Smurfette Glasses

I have been wearing glasses since I was 6 years old and have always hated it and found it to be a nuisance. My first pair of eyeglasses were pink with Smurfette on the side. I actually lost them and my friend’s father found them before he mowed them with the lawnmower. More on Smurfette Glasses

Sounds Like Glasses Are Made better Today

I have used eyeglasses since 1964. I was only supposed to use them to read things on the blackboard. My first pair were rose tinted lenses, so I wore them all of the time. They looked like sunglasses, which was a blessing for a sixth grader. More on Sounds Like Glasses Are Made better Today

A Second Pair

I have two pairs of glasses. One pair is for driving at night to cut down on the glare of the lights, and one is for reading and magnification.

I am somewhat nearsighted, and that is why I need them. I had some trouble on the eye exam "wiggly line" test. Both pairs were made by Adrienne Vittadinni for LensCrafters, where I also go for EyeExam 2000. More on A Second Pair

Nearsighted and Farsighted

I have one eye that is near sighted and one that is far sighted, so I need my glasses for driving or close up work, such as reading or computer work. I have had several pair of glasses, as I tend to be very hard on them, because I am constantly putting them on and taking them off - and I'm not very gentle about it, either!

I have had all kinds of glasses - bendable, plastic, metal reading glasses, ones with snap on sunglasses and the ones that darken in the light.

My favorite pair, however, are my Kate Spade glasses. They have a medium tint and More on Nearsighted and Farsighted
