Sounds Like Glasses Are Made better Today
I have used eyeglasses since 1964. I was only supposed to use them to read things on the blackboard. My first pair were rose tinted lenses, so I wore them all of the time. They looked like sunglasses, which was a blessing for a sixth grader. In those times, wearing glasses would bring one many insults from the other kids.
The sunglasses look spared me this. The first time I used wire rim frames, every time I looked down, the right lens fell out. This was corrected using clear fingernail polish on the lens and screw.
I have progressed to using bifocals and designer reading glasses over the years and would never consider using contacts. Using bifocals was quite an adjustment. I started out with the plain bifocal. This caused a funny situation when trying to walk down brick stairs. The stairs seemed to move from side to side.
Driving the first time with bifocals was scary. Looking down at the speedometer and back to the road caused me to loose focus for a short time until my vision corrected.
