A Tricky Nose to Fit

I am very picky about my eyeglasses. It's not the color or even the shape of the frames that matters to me, but the bridge. The bridge is the part of the frame that rests on the sides of the upper part of your nose so they don't slide down your face. There are different bridge types. The most common bridge type is the saddle bridge. The saddle bridge is like an upside-down U or a saddle, hence the name.

Wearing a pair of eyeglasses with a saddle bridge keeps your nose in contact with the front part of the frame. Well, I don't like the saddle bridges because I have a small nose. My nose is not big enough to keep my eyeglasses on my face. I have to constantly push my glasses up my face as they try to slide off, which is very frustrating. But fortunately for the small-nosed people like me, there are also eyeglasses which use a keyhole bridge. A keyhole bridge is named due to its old-fashioned keyhole shape. This style is made specifically for people who have small noses or flat noses. The bridge contour has small cut-out sections on either side, like that old keyhole in an ancient door.

Sadly, the keyhole bridge is not nearly as popular as the saddle bridge. Who knew there were so many Barbra Streisands running around with bad eyesight? Anyway, I'm just glad they still make the keyhole-bridged eyeglasses. And because every eyeglass shop I've ever been in sells so few (sometimes only 2 or 3 in the whole shop) I sometimes have ordered these wonderfully special frames on the Internet.

And I'm a happy eyeglass wearer.
