My Parents Chose My Glasses

I started wearing glasses in elementary school. My parents chose my first and second pairs; both of which were huge and really nerdy. My first pair even had a double nose bar. I hated wearing my glasses, and in 9th grade, begged my parents to let me get contacts. But I finally realized what I had been blind (pun intended) to those early years of glasses.

I let my parents choose my glasses because I didn't realize that they made just as big a personal statement as my clothes and jewelry did.

The pair I have now, I feel, really works with my personality. I am fun and quirky, traits that my glasses echo. They are black, plastic DKNY frames which works well with my dark hair and pale skin.

I almost never wear my contacts now that I have found the best pair of glasses.
